There seems to be trouble in agitation group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu as the group has split into two with the breakaway group spotting the name, The Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra (TRIPOB). The breakaway group, TRIPOB, has picked October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day, to publicly denounce Biafra Republic and burn its flag. According to Chima ‘Phillip Effiong’ Osuji, who released a statement on behalf of the group on Wednesday, the decision was taken on Monday at the end of an emergency meeting of “disaffected” IPOB members. TRIPOB said it now sees the Biafra question “from a different perspective”, as Biafra will now become “a powerful metaphor for change, development and greatness of the Igbos inside a united Nigeria”.
